Starting winch descentBackground

I.A.Recordings MineCam has explored Ramsden Shaft of Bog baryte mine in Shropshire's Stiperstones several times, but this recording is a unique event!

Calcite flow section The only descent of the shaft by winch was made by members of the Shropshire Caving & Mining Club in September 2007.

Minecam Mk 5 descends with the first explorer and we see all the main features of the shaft including work on the cross-timbers and landing amongst the tangle of metalwork at the bottom, 120m down.

Shaft bottom - Boat Level The camera is then carried into the flooded level to show the back of the lining, the start of a stope and the route towards Boat Level.
