Site Feature: Shropshire Lead Mines

The most famous of the lead mines of the Stiperstones in the English midlands county of Shropshire is Snailbeach, which has its own site feature page.

There is much more of interest in the area, so click on the map to explore one of Britain's major lead mining areas. This page will be updated from time to time and more mines will be added.

As usual, the pictures are taken from archive video recordings. A video compilation containing all our material on Shropshire lead mine surface remains will eventually be released.

There are several books and publications dealing with this fascinating area, available from the Shropshire Caving and Mining Club.
