The Manchester Ship Canal - Waterway history video production

This recording of a voyage from Manchester to the Mersey was made in 1984 prior to modern waterfront developments, when there was still commercial traffic to be seen. There have been many changes along the canal and the tape is now a historic record.

The journey is interspersed with fascinating nineteenth century material showing the massive feats of civil engineering needed to build the last major waterway in Britain, and gives an unusual back door view of the industries that lined its banks.
