Is IA dying in the UK?

Am I wrong, or is there a surprising number of industrial monuments - even grade 1 listed ones - being lost in the UK at the moment? Is it true that many British industrial museums are struggling to survive? What is going on?? There are more TV programmes than ever about industrial history. The industrial revolution is widely recognised as Britain's greatest contribution to modern civilisation - so it should have a better public profile than ever, but sometimes it seems as if we're back in the sixties when large numbers of industrial remains were destroyed due simply to ignorance of their significance. Why do these things seem to be so much better looked after on the European continent?
