Some views recorded for British Waterways of their historic narrowboat butty Leo being restored and launched at Dadford Shed below lock 12 on the Stourbridge canal, in Wordsley during April and May 1999. First each rivet is heated in a portable hearth by Colin Ashbrook then carried in a pair of tongs and inserted in the hole. He then holds the rivet in place with a heavy bar while boatbuilder Ian Kemp on the other side of the hull forms the rivet head with a pneumatic gun. |
| Leo was launched sideways into the basin on the 1st May. Please note: This is a collection of all the 'rushes' footage with hardly any editing! Summary - 16/04/99: Hull riveting, general views of basin, narrowboats, covered wharf & shed, enlarging holes with drift & reamer, riveting cabin roof. 01/05/99: Interior of shed, roof & pillar details, views from canal & lock 12, Leo ready to launch, launching, slo-mo versions, Leo afloat. |
