Bernard Bagworth:
As a retired electrical engineer in Sydney, Australia the site is most interesting especially since my early life was spent on the Kalgoorlie goldfields of Western Australia.

Peter:
Congratulations to Cornwall and West Devon - their superb mining remains now have UNESCO world heritage status!

Davey Mortimer:
There aren't words bad enough to describe those people who infiltrate and misuse benign websites like yours. Not words I would like to use here, anyway! Don't be discouraged!

Peter:
The exploiters got in and left adverts again, so I've changed the sign-in method - I do apologise.

Peter:
Good luck to Cornwall and West Devon with the bid for UNESCO world heritage status for their superb mining remains!

Robert Ibberson:
Visited St Aiden's "Oddball" Sun 11th Sept '05 with 6yr old grandson on bike/trailer bike. We were both impressed. Sorry Ruaridh was a bit of a pain shuffling the peas on the beautiful "odball" working model. Hope to see/do more. Congratulations too to the Trust and all who work in "her"

Peter:
I would like to recommend Lower Silesia, Poland for its mining history, particularly Zloty Stok gold mine museum and Nova Ruda coal mine museum.

Davey Mortimer:
It's a shame people have been abusing the Guestbook, but keep up the good work. Cheers Davey

Peter:
Sorry about the password thing, but you should have seen some of the adverts that people managed to sneak in!

Toggle Petersen:
I very much enjoyed your Compilation "The MHTI in Spain" - who would have thought all those fascinating mining sites would be found in the middle of Andalucia?

Paul C Thompson:
Another year and more machines gone! All the best for 2005 Friends of St Aidans 1150BE Dragline

Davey Mortimer:
Thanks for the new 'sign in' layout!

Peter:
There seem to be a lot of Davey Mortimers! Yes, I.A.Recordings visited Crown Nails a couple of weeks ago and spent a day recording and interviewing. An excellent site and very helpful people.

Davey Mortimer:
Thought you might like to know that the Crown Nail Works in Wolverhampton (UK) is due to close at christmas - they are the last people making "blued" tacks, cut clasp nails, gimp pins and other such fastnings in the country - using old equipment and 'home-modified' machines, well worth recording if you can before they close.

Davey Mortimer:
Keep up the good work!

Peter:
I have removed all your e-mail addresses and website URLs as unscrupulous people were abusing them. Please continue to use the new 'minimalist guestbook!

Rosie :
i really enjoyed the site thank you! I am aiming to develop a learning package for adults, uniting Chester and Wolvehampton around common themes. The Shroppie canal is an obvious starting point, anyone with any other ideas would be most welcome kind regards rosie

In regards to the Hem Heath video the shafts at that pit were Downcast 1136yds deep Upcast 1115yds deep not 324m. The A frame Headsticks had a Koepe & Drum Winder, there is at least one Tinsley Engine still underground at the No2 Staple pit.I worked at Hem Heath from 1962 to 1969 and was involved in Rope changes on all three Winders. I now live In N.S.W. Australia and I am involved in the Mining Industry here both Surface Draglines ect & Underground Directional Drilling

Thanks, for what must be the one of the most interesting and informative sites on the net. Truly "Great Stuff". I cannot think of any site that has held my attention so completely and for so long. There is still plenty that I have not looked at yet. I initially found your site whilst looking for mining history links, This eventually turned out to be only a small part of a far greater discovery. The more I look, the more I find.

toma :
I am very impressed by the industrial history that you are trying to preserve. My great-grandfather, Patrick Crehan (b.1844) worked as a miner in the Silvermines, County Tipperary, where he married Mary Cuddihy (b.1846, d.1909) in 1863. They immigrated to America in 1866 or 1867 where their sons were born including my grandfather, John. All of Patrick's sons worked as coal miners in the U.S. I have been told that Patrick did not come from Tipperary. I am still trying to find where he might have been born in Ireland. Best wishes, Tom (Crehan) Crane

Fantastic site with fabulous resources.... I have emailed links straight to some other teachers so we can ask if we can buy some videos for school. Hopefully, we can add something as the children have been looking in great detail at Bronze age tin mining and in tin streaming.
